Current Principal and Co-Investigators

There are currently five principal investigators and co-investigators involved in the Social Networks Project. Although there is some cross-over between the projects insofar as all four, to varying extents, have been involved in the design, collection and/or analysis of all three projects, their primary affiliations are listed below.

Susan C. Watkins
Director of African Demography, University of California, Los Angeles (Ph.D., Sociology, Princeton University, United States). Principal Investigator of the Kenya and Malawi Diffusion and Ideational Change Projects. Principal Investigator of the Malawi Religion Project.

Hans-Peter Kohler
Professor of Sociology, University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D., Economics and M.A. Demography, UC Berkeley, United States). Principal Investigator of the Malawi Diffusion and Ideational Change Project.

Angela Chimwaza
University of Malawi, Kamuzu College of Nursing (Ph.D., Nursing, University of Pennsylvania, United States). Principal Investigator of the Malawi Diffusion and Ideational Change Project.

Agnes M. Chimbiri
Director, Center for Reproductive Health, University of Malawi, College of Medicine (Ph.D., Demography, Waikato University, New Zealand). Principal Investigator of the Malawi Diffusion and Ideational Change Project.

Jere R. Behrman
Director, Population Studies Center, and William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Economics, University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D., Economics, MIT, United States). Co-investigator of the Malawi Diffusion and Ideational Change Project and the Malawi Religion Project.
